Risa Barash was a successful stand-up comedian in her native Manhattan area before entering the world of direct sales. She married in 2000 and soon after used her husband’s idea of creating hair care products for children that prevent head lice. She created Fairy Tales Hair Care, infused with organic herbs of rosemary, citronella, tea tree and lavender.

Q: What have been your greatest challenges and how did you overcome them?

A: Staying focused. It is easy to expand into other markets or products to sell more stuff, but I just tell myself, “Stick with the plan.” I stick with the products that build my brand and stay with my mission.
